Steps to Become a Notary in Alabama
To become a notary public in Alabama, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements listed in the previous section, then follow the steps below. Step 1- Complete and submit a notary application.
Submit a notary application to your local probate judge for review, along with a copy of your driver’s license and the $10 application fee. Once approved, you will receive a notice of approval from the Probate Judge requesting proof of the course completion certificate and a $50,000 notary bond.
Step 2- Complete a notary training course.

Within fourty days after you receive your notice of approval, file your notarized notary bond, course completion certificate, and any additional items required by your county probate court, and pay the recording fee.
